It's no secret Big Tech has intentionally stolen precious time from us all - no need to rehash that here. But we don't have to keep our mental wallets open all day everyday for BT to steal more from us.
Do we need to expose ourselves to videos and images that do not serve us?
No
Do our hearts and minds deserve to be stabbed?
No
Is it fair that it takes less than a second to hit an image that hurts our hearts? Images too grotesque to forget? Atrocities presented to us just because we unwittingly scrolled onto them?
Nope
The 1 HR / DAY initiative will prove that despite device addiction, we are incredibly strong. We can take back control.
We're not weak because we love our devices. They're awesome! We love learning from video shorts, love seeing beautiful and exciting things, love connections. These are wonderful things when the feed remains POSITIVE. But do we need to be on a feed for infinite hours? Long past the excitement period?
Nah - we have real life! Let's live it.

Ah - you got this all figured out, huh?
You might be thinking...
I can do this one hour thing in my sleep - after all - I sleep with my phone off anyway. Or....
I'm at school for an hour.
I'm at work for an hour.
I'm at the gym for an hour.
I practice my bass for an hour.
I watch football for an hour.
Yes - that's good to hear. But how about you commit the hour that you know is the problem? Maybe it's 3 minutes into a scroll? You stop - commit - and do something else.
Maybe it's the hour when you first wake up?
Or that hour right after school or work?
What is your unique HABIT hour? Think about it and commit it.
It will serve you!

1 Hour Per Day will update the site regularly with new tips and strategies. Ideas to help you with your commitment.
This winter, visit our SnowflakeMittens.com Initiative Page.
Warm Fuzzy Mittens hinder the tap! Wear some mittens to remind you to put the device away for the hour.
